Hello Friends of ICC,

I hope that these words find each of you wintering in, slowing down, and finding silver linings throughout your days. It’s those things that bring about a sense of gratitude within us, as simple as they can be, that can be what sustain us and create rich resolve to keep truckin’—one day at a time.

I’m keeping my note short this month to highlight the goodness that is throughout this newsletter. My hope is that you find celebration and inspiration in the notes that we have to share.

We appreciate you all, more than words can say!

OCTOBER IMPACT

This month, we served 378 clients with 756 sessions, subsidizing $2,505 in session and supervision fees—including $908 for clients facing financial hardship, $1020 for Black, Brown, Indigenous, Trans & Nonbinary clients and $165 for undocumented adults. We subsidized $340 in clinical supervision costs for our Postgraduate Residents, as well.

• What kind of clients do you love working with?

  Growing up isn't always easy- and neither is navigating adulthood. I work with children, teens, and families who are facing challenges like anxiety, depression, neurodivergence, stress, grief and loss, school stress, life transitions, and more.  Additionally, I am trained to work with immigrants that are going through life’s most challenging moments, including adjustments, grief, and trauma. 

• What values guide your work as a therapist?

  As a therapist, I strive to create a welcoming space where everyone feels seen, heard, and valued. Additionally, I believe in the strengths of each individual, so I love to empower these strengths by building motivation to continue to make changes. 

• What books, authors, artists, or activists inspire your work?

  Most of my childhood, I watched family members serving in the healing profession either as nurses, doctors, and administrators. I believe I was naturally born to be a healer and servant in the healing profession.

• What's your favorite part about working at ICC? 

  I joined ICC because of the mission, values, and commitment.

Among them:

• 65% are AFAB or transgender women

• 21% are AMAB or transgender men

• 14% are nonbinary or gender expansive

• 30% live with a federally qualifying disability

• 24% are immigrants, Black, Brown, or Indigenous

• 30% are living below the federal poverty guidelines
